Is Adam Smith the god that conservatives REALLY worship?

I think you have it backwards. The gods liberals worship are Karl Marx and Vladmir Lenin, who advocated Socialism and redistribution of wealth. Today, liberals consider it blasphemy to question Socialism. But, conservatives are legitimate in revering Adam Smith because Adam Smith was an economic genius. He proposed letting people independently seek their own self interests while allowing the government to intervene if self-interest leads to oppression. Smith struck a perfect balance between letting the strong prosper and helping the people on the bottom.
