Question about using PS3 with 720p LCD TV ...?

We currently own a Dynex 720p lcd tv that supports 1080i....we run the PS3 for games, blu-ray, netflix, etc with no problems. We are looking into buying either a Dynex/Vizio 1080i, or a Panasonic 720p that does NOT support 1080i. Do you see any problems with the latter? We own a Panasonic Viera plasma that I love, and I trust Panasonic over the off-brands...
